Gunmen Attack APC Leader In Rivers State, Murder Police Escort!

Armed gunmen in Rivers State attempted to assassinate All Progressives Congress (APC) Party leader Chikordi Dike around 11pm Tuesday night, according to media reports. According to police sources in Rivers State the gunmen murdered the police escort, Corporal Yakubu, who was accompanying Mr. Dike that evening.

Police believe that Mr. Dike, who was once the Committee Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area (LGA) in Rivers State, was the intended target of the gunmen.

It was also learned the two gunmen attacked their victims around the Polo Club when they exchanged gunfire with Corporal Yakubu.
